Peppol Statistics page update
2023-12-19Today, we discovered a problem with some of the numbers on the Peppol Statistics page. We have solved the issue, but this does mean that some of the numbers have changed.
As you may know, we base these statistics on information from the Peppol Directory. This data is provided in several data formats, and the one we chose to use for our Peppol Statistics page (CSV) did not always contain the correct names of organizations, due to a server-side character encoding limitation. This caused some organizations to not be counted in the totals, and other (though much fewer) to be counted twice.
We have changed the data format to XML, which does contain the full and correct names of organizations published in the Peppol Directory.
This does, however, change the results a bit. This is most notable in the numbers for Japan, where this issue was most prevalent: Its total jumped from 360 to 3423.
Using the XML format provided it is also easier to detect duplicate entries; organizations that publish multiple Peppol Identifiers using the same Organization name (such as a Chamber of Commerce number and a VAT number), resulting in the numbers for some countries going down. However, these changes are much smaller. For instance, for NL, the number went down from 38472 to 38376.
This also means that the growth will now be slightly inaccurate as well, if the selected range encompasses December 19, 2023: there is a 0.4% ‘growth’ reported due to this change.
Please keep this in mind when using these numbers.
